Our Artistic Director, Misty Mistler, has lived in Kona for 30+ years. She was trained classically at a very early age and became a child guest artist with major symphonies playing the French horn. By age 12, she played numerous instruments including guitar. To put herself through College and Dental School, Misty played and sang in coffee houses and with the band “Sebastian”. She opened her own dental office in Fairbanks, Alaska and helped many underprivileged children with free dental care. Misty continues to perform and has sung in numerous choruses and acapella choirs, played with her band “Expresso” here in Kona and entertains from time to time around Kona and at private events.
Our accompanist, Gloria Juan, received her music degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and retired in late 2019 after 40+ years of teaching 'ukulele and chorus at Kealakehe Intermediate School. Along with accompanying the Kona Aloha Singers, she accompanies the youth and adult choruses for the Kona Choral Society and is a rehearsal and performance accompanist for the Aloha Performing Arts Center. She is also the head of the music ministry for the Kona United Methodist Church.
